Blessed Cahoots
Blessed Cahoots is an award given out in The Sanderson Gazette to a team that was on the receiving end of notably good fortune. The term originated in the Blingachat after Keenan Allen was put on IR shortly after Dave traded him to Rob and subsequently used both words as hashtags in the same message.
D'Ernest D'oh
D'Ernest D'oh is an award given out in The Sanderson Gazette to a team that makes an especially baffling transaction. It is named after D'Ernest Johnson, who was Nick Chubb's backup in 2021 and had a few good games, yet was perpelexingly dropped by Richie and ignored by Babel during a week when Chubb was out.
Excitement Index
Excitement Index is a metric calculated for regular season weeks. It is determined by taking the z-score for a week's average score and subtracting the z-score for the week's average margin. (The latter is subtracted because closer margins are more exciting, but have negative z-scores.)
Expected Wins
Expected wins uses historical game scores to determine a team's odds of winning each game and sums that for all the team's games in a season. The totals are then adjusted so that the sum of expected wins for all teams in a season equals the total number of games played for the season.
Pryor Play of the Week
Pryor Play of the Week is an award given out in The Sanderson Gazette to an underperformeing player that finally has a good game. It is named after Terrelle Pryor, Sr., who was kept by Mike R. in 2017 and consistently disappointed before delivering on his potential once.
RobScore
RobScore is an unscientific measure of historic success of a franchise. For a given season, a team gets:
- 1 point for making the playoffs
- 1 point for winning the Sanderson Cup
- 0.5 points for losing in the Blingabowl
- 0.25 points for winning the third-place game
- 0.5 points for finishing the regular season in first place
- 0.25 points for finishing the regular season in second place
Slapped Heartbeat
Slapped Heartbeat is awarded to the team with the lowest score of a given week. The term was once used by a member of the Theta Xi fraternity as a threat for not cleaning up after yourself in the weight room.
Strength of Schedule
Strength of schedule looks at expected wins based on a team's opponents' scores over the course of a season. Positive values indicate a more difficult schedule. A value of +10% means your opponents' scores added up to an expected wins total of 10% above 0.500 (i.e. a expected win percentage against of 0.550).
Team Blangums
Team Blangums is awarded to the team with the highest score of a given week. The term "blangums" is the superlative form of the term "blingums", which can be used as a synonym for "excellent" and is the source of the name "Blingaleague".
