The Sanderson Gazette - 2009-12-15 - Wildcard Round
The wildcard round of the Blingaleague playoffs brought us two blowouts, but managed to be interesting, thanks to Rob having a legitimate shot to reach Blinaleague emeritus Katie's league record 188+ points, set during her championship year of 2007. Rob fell 22 points short, much to Katie's (and Pulley's, I'm sure) delight.
Weekly Recap
Derrek def. Ed, 129.47-95.21: In what may be the first-ever matchup between teams that each had a 38+ point scorer (Brandon Marshall for D, the Fantasy God Chris Johnson for Ed), D blew out our fine editor and commissioner.
Rob def. Kevin, 166.83-97.69: Meanwhile, Rob got 35+ point weeks from his top two wide receivers, Andre Johnson (38.03) and DeSean Jackson (35.73). Kevin didn't stand a chance.
Weekly Awards
Team Blangums (Top Score): Roundhouse Rush (Rob), as mentioned earlier, scored 166.83 points. This is the second-highest point total of the season (Ed, week 10, 172.68), and third-highest total in Blingaleague history (Katie, week 9 2007, 188.29).
Slapped Heartbeat (Low Score): All four playoff participants proved they belonged, as the lowest score was 95.21, by Boystown Brawlers (Ed).
Start of the Week: Rob took a flyer on Willis McGahee, who scored 19.87 points.
Misplay of the Week: Ed sat Reggie Bush and his 21.43 points in favor of Knowshon Moreno and his meager 8.03. Honorable mention to Randy Moss and his 0.13 points.

Season Summaries
Ed Gross (Boystown Brawlers), 7-6, 1322.97 points:
Positives: Chris Johnson was amazing, helping Ed score the single-week high for the season. Randy Moss had some huge weeks. Jay Cutler was decent from a fantasy perspective. Cadillac Williams and Mario Manningham were key midseason acquisitions.
Negatives: Randy Moss disappeared at times. Greg Jennings, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Reggie Bush, and Darren McFadden all disappointed relative to draft position.
Kevin Pattermann (Champaign Supernovas), 6-7, 1339.89 points:
Positives: Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark were near the top of the league at their positions. Kevin also fielded an overall solid team, finishing third overall in points.
Negatives: Kevin, like Babel, faced a brutal schedule, causing his record to be worse than his points rank. Kevin lost three games in which he scored over 100 points, and five games in which he scored over 90.
Closing Thoughts
More errata: Rob has only made the playoffs in 2008 and 2009, not in all three years, as reported last week. No single Blingaleague franchise has reached the playoffs every year.
Once again, here are the odds for each non-playoff team for receiving the first pick in next year's draft:
Adam Pulley => 27.73%
Dave Fultz => 18.15%
Mike Romor => 17.28%
Mark Babel => 17.06%
Pat Gawne => 10.16%
Allen Clark => 9.62%
