Draft Reminder

Get excited! The best day of the year is this Sunday!

That's right, the Blinaleague Draft will take place at noon this coming Sunday (August 28). Either bring your cute little faces to 3514 N Leavitt, Chicago, or sign into the Google chat within the draft board Google doc.

By my last count, we'll have eight guys in person (me, Rob, Matt, Kevin, Babel, Allen, Pat, and Dave's proxy/brother Kyle), with four drafting via chat (Derrek, Mike, Pulley, Rabbit). I'll have some beer and snacks, but feel free to bring anything else you'd like.

Draft order for odd-numbered rounds is:

  1. Mike

  2. Matt

  3. Pat

  4. Kevin

  5. Rob

  6. Dave

  7. Babel

  8. Pulley

  9. Allen

  10. Derrek

  11. Ed

  12. Rabbit

Cooler than Julien:

Derrek and Rob are in similar situations; both enter the season having spent a seventh-, an eighth-, and two ninth-round picks on early-round running backs (Rashard Mendenhall and Darren McFadden for D, Peyton Hillis and LeGarrette Blount for Rob).

Rabbit, as if he needed any help, also enters the season in good shape, having kept Arian Foster and Mike Wallace each multiple rounds after they would normally be drafted.

Chilling in the attic with Klein:

Ed retained a stud WR (Roddy White) for a late-first-rounder and a potential workhorse RB (Shonn Greene) for a seventh.

Mike, who won the first overall pick, kept two number-one WRs, Hakeem Nicks (4th) and Miles Austin (7th).

Somewhere between a candle-lit bathroom and Pizza's boudoir:

Babel kept Michael Vick for a ninth. That's excellent. Percy Harvin for an eigth? I'm not a fan.

Kevin kept a top-six RB (LeSean McCoy) for a seventh-round pick. He also carried over Sam Bradford, who should be a good play at QB many weeks, for a thirteenth.

Pat also hung onto a top-tier RB (Ray Rice) for great value, but his second keeper, Austin Collie, is far from a sure thing.

Pulley's situation is similar to Pat's: a stud RB (Jamaal Charles) for cheap, with a question mark at WR (Malcom Floyd)

And Allen only spend an eighth-round pick on Santonio Holmes. He also kept Marshawn Lynch for the super-low cost of a fourteenth-rounder.

Lost in Milky's basement:

Dave got great value in Mike Williams (Tampa Bay version) for a tenth, but took a huge risk on Jeremy Maclin for a fifth.

Matt stuck with his rookie-laden 2010 draft by keeping Jahvid Best for a fourth and Dez Bryant for a sixth. Neither is that inspiring, but both have some nice upside.

Closing Thoughts

I hope everyone is looking forward to Sunday as much as I am.
