The Sanderson Gazette - 2013-08-26 - Just Like Old Times

Draft Results

Richie Armour (DICK ARMOUR)

Good: Tom Brady's slide through the first two rounds allowed Richie to scoop him up with pick 2.14.

Bad: Not too much. Outside of Richardson and Brady, there's not a lot of high-end talent here, but that might be nitpicking.

X-factor: Between T.Y. Hilton, Greg Olsen, Ronnie Hillman, and Alshon Jeffery, Richie's got high-upside guys in later rounds. If two or three pan out, this is likely a playoff team.

Kevin Pattermann (The Chocolate Donuts)

Good: Alfred Morris, Marshawn Lynch, and Reggie Bush form an excellent RB trio.

Bad: Waiting on a TE resulted in Martellus Bennett and Zach Sudfeld. Urgh.

X-factor: Kevin's passing offense looks to be completely hit-or-miss, as Michael Vick, Dwayne Bowe, and Miles Austin-Jones aren't exactly the most steady fantasy performers.

Pat Gawne (Vinegar Strokes)

Good: Despite have Jay Cutler already on board, Pat still wound up with a top-tier QB, as Drew Brees slid to pick 2.12.

Bad: Keeping Jay Cutler was probably not the best move, especially considering Pat was able to land Brees.

X-factor: Pat has both rookie Packer RBs (Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin), so that's a possibility. But really, his season probably comes down to Arian Foster's health.

Allen Clark (Optimus Prime)

Good: Drafting Aaron Rodgers first ensures Allen doesn't have to get cute with QBs on the waiver wire.

Bad: Having no keepers means this roster isn't as strong at the top as most others.

X-factor: DeAngelo Williams (5.04) and Rueben Randle (8.11) could potentially be steals.

Adam Pulley (Pullman's MondoSquad)

Good: Pulley has a very strong WR corps, as his 2nd-4th round picks were Andre Johnson, Wes Welker, and Julio Jones (keeper).

Bad: After LeSean McCoy, he's got some big question marks at RB.

X-factor: If Andrew Luck picks up where he left off last year, this should be a contender, regardless of the RB situation.

Rob Gross (THRILLHO)

Good: Brandon Marshall is a monster. C.J. Spiller for a 5th just might be the best keeper value.

Bad: Due to the way his rankings broke down, Rob wound up with Vick Ballard as his next-best RB, which is less than ideal.

X-factor: Should Steve Smith defy aging one more year, this might be the scariest set of receivers in the league.

Mike Schertz (schertzopotamus)

Good: Schertz made Matt Forte the second-straight Bear drafted in the first round, and should be rewarded nicely.

Bad: Relying on two injury-prone WRs (Amendola, Nicks) and Cecil Shorts can't be very confidence-inspiring.

X-factor: Can Russell Wilson avoid a sophomore slump?

Dave Fultz (DumbFace 4 President)

Good: Did I say C.J. Spiller was the best keeper value? Scratch that: Cam Newton for a 12th is my new vote.

Bad: Dave's #2 RB is either Darren Sproles or Fred Jackson.

X-factor: A pair of veteran Falcons (Steven Jackson and Roddy White) will basically determine if Dave makes the playoffs for the first time ever.

Mike Romor (San Jose Sharknados)

Good: Mike waited on a QB and still wound up with Eli Manning.

Bad: Mike waited on a TE and wound up with Jermaine Gresham.

X-factor: If Lamar Miller holds down the Dolphins starting job, this RB roster looks much stronger than if he doesn't.

Derrek Drenckpohl (D's Nuts)

Good: Adrian Peterson, enough said.

Bad: This isn't exactly a murderer's row of WRs: Eric Decker, Sidney Rice, and Vincent Brown.

X-factor: Darren McFadden at pick 2.05 is either going to be fantastic or deadly.

Ed Gross (Half of a Horse)

Good: Matt Ryan slipped all the way to pick 3.11. I'll take that.

Bad: I also took three TEs. Seriously?

X-factor: Giovani Bernard could be a great pickup if he becomes the Bengals' workhorse.

Nick "Rabbit" Warren (Pralines & Dick)

Good: Rabs loaded up on RBs (Ridley and Chris Johnson) early, thanks to having kept A.J. Green and Randall Cobb.

Bad: A definite high-risk team, with the aforementioned Johnson and the currently-injured Rob Gronkowski.

X-factor: Gronkowski. If he only misses one game, getting him at pick 3.12 could be a coup. If he misses many more, it could torpedo Rabbit's season.

Mark Babel (Limited Characters)

Good: Some very strong TEs (Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates) to compliment the undisputed #1 WR around, Calvin Johnson.

Bad: Those TEs are kind of old. And his QBs are Ben Roethlisberger and Andy Dalton, not an ideal outcome.

X-factor: If Le'Veon Bell recovers quickly, Babel will look like a genius.

Matt Harrison (Harrison Hammers)

Good: Dez Bryant is poised to have a huge year.

Bad: As of right now, Mark Ingram is Matt's #2 RB.

X-factor: RGIII's knee.
