Welcome, everyone, to the ninth season of The Blingaleague!

Draft Information

The draft is this coming Sunday, August 14, at noon. Anyone is welcome to come hang out on the Saturday night before and crash at my (or Rob and Mike's) place.

The Google Doc in which we'll do the chat is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mkRgtqmYqE2ip88ol38iFOkcR9Cth7kBbxb03fUzoOs/edit?usp=drive_web.

Also, don't forget to register for the Yahoo league at http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/blingaleague. This means you, Allen.

Draft Order

First round order (reversed for even-numbered rounds, as usual):

  1. Dave

  2. Allen

  3. Babel

  4. Derrek

  5. Kevin

  6. Rabbit

  7. Ed

  8. Pat

  9. Mike R.

  10. Matt

  11. Richie

  12. Rob

  13. Schertz

  14. Pulley

Keepers

Pulley kept Tom Brady for a sixth and Carlos Hyde for a seventh. Both have high upsides, provided he doesn't start off too slowly with Brady suspended.

Schertz retained the consensus #1 overall player, Antonio Brown, for the thirteenth overall pick. He starts with a second Steeler, Ben Rothesliberger, kept for a sixth.

Rob has two top-seven players, DeAndre Hopkins and Todd Gurley, for a second and third, respectively, putting him in excellent shape to start the season.

Richie kept Rob Gronkowski in exchange for his first round pick and Thomas Rawls for a ninth. If Rawls really gets all the carries in Seattle, that could be scary.

Like Schertz and Rob, Matt will start the draft with a top WR already on his roster, as he retained Julio Jones for a first. Last year's MVP, Cam Newton, joins him for a fourth round pick.

Mike R. continued the first-round run of keepers by holding onto Dez Bryant. Dion Lewis might be a little hit-or-miss, but he only cost Bernie a ninth-round pick.

Derrek kept Allen Robinson for great value, merely costing him a fourth-rounder. Josh Gordon for a seventh could be a steal, as well.

Dave hung onto two RBs: Devonta Freeman (fifth round) and Jeremy Langford (ninth). He didn't spend much to keep them, though neither is a sure-thing star.

Pat made some... unexpected choices: Mike Wallace for a fifth and Matthew Stafford for a seventh. I have to think he overpaid for both, but maybe they'll both bounce back with strong years.

Babel's Doug Martin (sixth round) keeper looks nice, but he's not particularly confident in C.J. Anderson for a seventh. Will he rue giving up Kevin White for a tenth?

Rabbit retained LeSean McCoy for the reasonable cost of a second-round pick and Donte Moncrief for the low cost of a tenth. He'll have a lot of options with the sixth overall pick.

Ed's Odell Beckham, Jr. keeper might be our overall best value, merely costing a seventh. Kelvin Benjamin is coming of a missed season, but for a ninth is worth it.

Allen held onto Russell Wilson with the second-to-last pick of the second round and also kept Jordan Reed for the very nice value of a ninth.

Finally, Kevin has two strong keepers: Doug Baldwin for an eighth and David Johnson for a ninth. Both would be long gone by the time those rounds started.

Closing Thoughts

Everyone get excited for the draft!

If you aren't even going to be drafting remotely, please send me some instructions, or give them to someone who will be at the draft to act as proxy for you. Otherwise. we will use ESPN's rankings, as usual.

See you all Sunday!
