"My absence from Blingaleague has been sad." - Allen

Lots of Uncertainty

As of press time, we're all still under some form of COVID-19-related lockdown. This means we don't yet know what kind of season the NFL will play, or even if they will play one at all.

Keepers

I'm definitely not going to send out keeper emails until we know more about the 2020 season. So it could be that when I do start, we'll have to make decisions fairly quickly. Please start looking over your end-of-season roster and think about whom you might keep. As always, feel free to ask me for clarification on what it would cost to keep any players, or if they've been kept already, and so forth.

Draft

There's no point in scheduling a hard draft date right now, and it seems quite likely we'll need to do it over video conference regardless of the COVID-19 situation (I am in London, after all). This will hopefully make it a little easier to schedule, but please let me know as soon as possible if there are dates that won't work for you at all.

Shortened Season

My current thinking is that, if the season is at least fourteen weeks long, I would try to keep thirteen regular season weeks to preserve our round robin schedule, and shorten the playoffs as necessary. However, if the season is shorter than that, I would probably try to keep at least two playoff rounds and have a shortened regular season.

No matter what happens, it's unlikely I'll send out a Google Form to try to decide things democratically; I'll instead probably just make some decisions as commissioner. However, if you do have ideas, I'm happy to hear them and take them into account, so please share whatever you're thinking, either to me directly or via Blingachat.

Some Certainty

Rule Change

At the end of last season, we voted on rule changes, and only one passed. As a reminder, the initial waiver wire order - i.e. immediately follwing the draft - will go in reverse order of standings. Previously, it had been the reverse order of the first round.

Draft Lottery

Since I needed a sports fix, I decided to run the draft lottery, even if we don't wind up having a 2020 draft.

Odds

As a reminder, here were the odds of getting the first pick:

  • Scott: 22.31%
  • Rob: 15.84%
  • Richie: 15.63%
  • Ed: 15.01%
  • Dave: 8.15%
  • Pat: 8.02%
  • Kevin: 7.60%
  • Rabbit: 7.43%

Results

Here is the draft order for the next Blingaleague draft:

  1. Rob
  2. Dave
  3. Ed
  4. Scott
  5. Richie
  6. Rabbit
  7. Kevin
  8. Pat
  9. Pulley
  10. Babel
  11. Mike R.
  12. Derrek
  13. Matt
  14. Schertz

Closing Thoughts

Hopefully you're all doing well during the lockdowns.

I'm guessing many of you are thinking of Dr. Allen "Touchdown" Clark, and how he and Erin (who is an ER doctor) are doing during this time. I've been keeping in touch with him, and I know Matt has, too (for nerdier reasons), and so far, they are all doing well.
